Shopping on Curaçao is less about one specific shopping street, and more about a handful of places scattered around the island – each with its own atmosphere. These are the places and shops that we keep going back to.

A former fortress in Otrobanda, now transformed into a lively shopping and catering complex – with the old fortress walls still intact. We often start our day in Willemstad here, and it is also a great place to do some quick shopping before you leave.

One of the largest shopping malls on the island. Not an atmospheric exploration like the other places on this list, but useful if you want to find everything under one roof – from clothing to electronics.

Shopping center just outside the center, and especially popular with locals. Less touristy than Sambil, and therefore just a little more authentic.

Shopping with the sea in the background. Combine it with one of the beach bars in the area, and you will have half a day in no time.

Tucked away among Otrobanda’s historic buildings, you’ll find small boutiques and galleries here – the kind of place where you walk slowly through rather than walking straight to something.

For those who like a carefully curated selection instead of mass supply. Exactly the kind of store where every piece has a reason to be there.

For those looking for a summery, free style of clothing – the kind of clothes that perfectly match the Caribbean rhythm of life.

More than a shop: this is a real plantation where you can take a tour and even a workshop to make your own aloe vera care product. The shop itself sells authentic Curaloe products, straight from the island. Ideal to combine with an educational outing.

One of the oldest manor houses on the island, built in 1840 to replace an older building from the early 18th century. The house is named after Jan Kok, an 18th-century plantation owner notorious for his cruelty – many islanders still believe today that his evil spirit haunts it. Less spooky, but quite worth it: the house offers a beautiful view over the salt flats of the Sint Maria Bay, where flamingos regularly perch, and inside you will find the art gallery of the famous local artist Nena Sanchez.

For the well-known Chichi figurines – the generous, colorful female figures that have now become the symbol of Curaçao. One of the most recognizable souvenirs you can take home from the island.
