Travel and sustainability really don’t have to be opposites. Since we left on a world trip, we have consciously tried to choose things that are light, durable and multifunctional . In this blog, I’ll take you through our minimalist travel gear – with sustainable must-haves that make our everyday lives easier, and at the same time are kind to the planet.

🎒Why minimalist travel?

We travel with this 40L backpack per adult (hand luggage only) – and that forces us to think about what is really needed. Every gram counts. At the same time, we want to bring things that we can rely on. Quality over quantity. And if possible: also good for the world.

We don’t drink tap water during the trip, but fill our VANN drinking bottles with bottled water. Thanks to the insulation, the drink stays ice cold for hours – even on the beach!

🧴 Deodorant: Salt of the Earth & DO2

We kozen voor Salt of the Earth als natuurlijke, milde deo. Die werkt hier in het warme klimaat verrassend goed!
Thuis gebruiken we ook graag DO2, een deodorant die je eindeloos kunt bijvullen met water. Erg handig, compact en zero waste.

🧺 Wat we (nog) niet meenamen…

  • Humble Brush tandenborstels: We kozen toch voor elektrisch poetsen op reis (werkt voor ons gewoon beter). Maar Humble Brush blijft een aanrader voor wie licht & plasticvrij wil reizen.

  • Waslijn en reiszeep: Stonden op onze lijst, maar zijn we vergeten. Waarschijnlijk kopen we nog iets on the go.

  • Waterfilter: Niet meegenomen deze keer, omdat we in de meeste landen toch gewoon flessenwater kopen.

🧼 Minimalisme in de praktijk: enkele extra tips

  • Kies voor herbruikbare verpakkingen en blikjes (bijv. van shampoobars)

  • Denk multifunctioneel: een bar voor 3 toepassingen bespaart plek

  • Test producten thuis uit, zodat je weet wat werkt

  • Maak van je toilettas een mini-spa: een fijne geur kan écht het verschil maken op reis!

🌎 Bewuste keuzes maken = vrijheid

Minimalistisch reizen geeft je letterlijk en figuurlijk ruimte. Minder spullen betekent minder zorgen. En als je dan ook nog kiest voor producten die je met een goed gevoel gebruikt – win-win!

Je hoeft geen perfecte eco-reiziger te zijn. Elke bewuste keuze telt. 🌿
