The best time to visit Curaçao
When should you go?
Do you dream of pearly white beaches, azure blue sea and a cocktail in your hand? Then Curaçao is the perfect destination. But when is the best time to travel to this tropical paradise? We look at the weather, festivities and seasons to determine your ideal travel period.
1 Weather on Curaçao
Curaçao spoils you with a wonderful tropical climate all year round. The temperature fluctuates between 28°C and 32°C during the day, while it cools down pleasantly to about 24-27°C at night. Thanks to the cooling trade winds, it is almost always bearable.
The dry season runs from February to June. During this period, there is hardly any rain, so you can fully enjoy the sun and the beaches. July to January is the wetter season, with October and November as the wettest months. But don’t worry: the showers are usually short and heavy, after which the sun quickly breaks through again.
Want to be sure of the best deals? Then book your trip in May or September. The weather is still excellent, but the prices are often a bit lower.
2 Festivities and events
Curaçao is bustling with activities all year round. Some highlights:
- Fuikdag (first Sunday of January) – the largest boat party in the Caribbean
- Carnival (January-February) – a colorful spectacle you won’t want to miss
- King’s Day (April 27) – this is also celebrated in a big way on Curaçao
- Seú (Easter Monday) – the traditional harvest festival with colourful parades
- Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival (August) – world-famous artists in a tropical setting
3 The best time to visit
Although Curaçao is a wonderful destination all year round, we recommend going between February and June. You will then benefit from:
- Minimal chance of rain
- Pleasant temperatures
- Less chance of hurricanes (the hurricane season runs from June to November – although Curaçao is not affected by this)
- Lively events such as Carnival
Want to avoid the crowds? Then consider visiting in May or September. The weather is still excellent, but you avoid the largest tourist flow.
